When bad things happen...again and again

We lost 5 months worth of pictures!  We were attacked by a horrible computer virus.  A virus so bad, that we had to erase and start over.  We had been backing up everything on a portable hard drive, but today we found that it didn't save our photos!  It saved everything we didn't need, but it didn't save my son's photos.

5 months of adult photos is no big deal.  5 months of first year baby photos is horrendous!  He's changed so much in that time.  I can't remember all the changes...but I know there are many.

I must admit, I feel pretty down.  There were a lot of photos.  I was a crazy first time mom with a camera constantly in her hand.  I wanted to document everything...everything!  Sigh...

The good news is that this blog has some of the photos I lost...so some are saved!  It doesn't really make me feel that much better.

Just as my mom survived breast cancer, Baba had a stroke.  Just as we were feeling hopeful about Baba, we got robbed.  Just as we were letting that go, we lost the photos.  I'm scared about what will happen next.  Sigh...

It's okay.  I will be okay.  I just needed to vent a little.  Then  I needed to convert some of the recent photos from RAW format to JPEG and dump them here.  I hope you don't mind...my blogger friends.

Have a lovely day!

  1. i'm so sorry. i lost a bunch of photos a couple of years back and just felt sick.

it took a while but i soon realised that the photos couldn't replace the experiences. it also got me to take less photos and just enjoy the moments. like sometimes i would be so intent on 'getting the shot' that i know some momentary pleasure was given up. you know?

i would still feel sick if i lost current photos! but again, would know they are not everything. it's a hard lesson in letting go that's for sure!

nice to meet you, and your sweet boy.

edit: did you know you have word verification on?

  2. Thank you so much for your kind words. I guess it just takes time.

You're right about putting down the camera and enjoying the moment. I definitely need to do that!

No, I didn't know I had word verification on! I hate that thing which is why I moderate! I have to find out how to turn it off! Thanks for letting me know!

  4. I am SO sorry your pictures are lost - but so glad you have the blog so some can be recovered. And let me tell you something - you can "dump" all the photos you want of that precious baby boy right here on us. I could look at that sweet face all day! :)

  6. How terrible -- I'm sorry to hear about that. I use an online back-up system called Mozy. You pay a one-year fee and program it to back up your computer however often you want to do so. I highly recommend it --

    1. Thank you for your recommendation. I will look into it. I wish I had done it sooner. I am mourning the loss of the videos from the NICU the most. I guess it will just have to be in my memory. At least I have the photos.
